Men’s Lacrosse Undefeated in Ivies

In the minds of most alumni, when it comes to Cornell sports, hockey is king. A number of other Big Red teams turned in impressive performances in 2005, including the men’s lacrosse team. The Daily Sun reported that the team went undefeated in Ivy League play.
The team was hoping for its first NCAA quarterfinal appearance since 1988, but fell to Duke 11-8 on May 21 in Princeton, NJ.
Among the honors received by the team, ESPN The magazine named Senior defenseman Casey Stevenson to its Academic All-District First Team. And this week, senior All-Americans Justin Redd and Kyle Georgalas were both selected in the 2005 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft. So if you go to see a professional lacrosse game in the next few years, the odds are good that you’ll see a fellow Cornellian on the field.
